Magnet Wire / Enameled Wire

Magnet wire, also known as winding wire, is an insulated wire used to manufacture coils or windings in electrical products. Common Magnet wires are enameled wire, wrapped wire, enameled wrapped wire and inorganic insulated wire.

Enameled wire
The conductor is coated with the corresponding paint solution, and then the solvent is evaporated and the paint film is solidified and cooled. Enameled wire can be divided into polyester enameled wire, polyesterimide enameled wire, polyamideimide enameled wire, polyimide enameled wire, polyesterimide / polyamideimide enameled wire, corona-resistant enameled wire, and oily enameled wire according to the insulating paint used. Paint, acetal paint, polyurethane enameled wire, etc. Sometimes they are also classified according to the particularity of their uses, such as self-adhesive enameled wire, refrigerant-resistant enameled wire, etc.

The earliest enameled wire was oily enameled wire, made of tung oil, etc. The paint film has poor wear resistance and cannot be directly used to manufacture motor coils and windings. A cotton yarn wrapping layer is required when using it. Later, polyvinyl formal enameled wire came out, and its mechanical properties were greatly improved. It can be directly used in motor windings and is called high-strength enameled wire.

With the development of weak current technology, self-adhesive enameled wire has emerged, which can obtain a coil with better integrity without dipping and baking. However, its mechanical strength is poor and it can only be used in micro motors and small motors. In addition, in order to avoid the trouble of removing the paint film first during welding, direct-soldering enameled wires have been developed. The coating film can fall off by itself in the high-temperature tin enameling bath, making the copper wire easy to weld.

As the application of enameled wire becomes increasingly widespread and the requirements become increasingly stringent, composite enameled wire has also been developed. The inner and outer paint films are composed of different polymer materials, such as polyesterimide / polyamideimide enameled wire.

Wrapped wire
An important variety in winding wires. In the early days, cotton yarn and silk were used, called yarn-covered wire and silk-covered wire, and were used in motors and electrical appliances. Due to the large insulation thickness and low heat resistance, most of them have been replaced by enameled wires. Currently it is only used as high frequency winding wire. In large and medium-sized winding wires, when the heat resistance level is high and the mechanical strength is high, glass fiber covered wires are also used, and appropriate adhesive paint is used during manufacturing.

Paper-covered wire still occupies a considerable position in wrapped wires and is mainly used in oil-immersed transformers. The oil-paper insulation formed at this time has excellent dielectric properties, is cheap, and has a long life. Paper covered wire is a wire that is made of oxygen-free copper rods or electrical round aluminum rods that have been extruded or drawn by a die of a certain specification and then annealed. The copper (aluminum) conductor is then wrapped with two or more layers of insulating paper (including (telephone paper, cable paper, high-voltage cable paper, inter-turn insulating paper, etc.) winding wire, suitable for oil-immersed transformer coils and other similar electrical appliance winding wires. NOMEX paper-covered wire is a winding wire made of oxygen-free copper rods or electrical round aluminum rods extruded through a die of certain specifications, and then wrapped with NOMEX insulating paper produced by DuPont in the United States. It is mainly used in transformers and welding machines. , electromagnets or other similar electrical equipment product windings. Electrical bare copper (aluminum) wires produced by the extrusion process are the most ideal materials for producing cable paper-covered wires.

Film wrapping wires have developed rapidly in recent years, mainly including polyester film and polyimide film wrapping wires. There are also mica-coated polyesterimide film-wrapped copper flat wires for wind power generation.

Insulated wire

When the heat resistance level requirements exceed the limits of organic materials, inorganic insulating paint is usually used for coating. Existing inorganic insulated wires can be further divided into glass film wires, oxide film wires and ceramic wires.

Other wires

There are also combination wires, transposition wires, etc.
